Dumb, Dumb, Dumb

Met a new client today. Young woman, twenty-one, well dressed, well spoken. She was working at large, nationally known department stores.
She and her boyfriend, (who did not work there), thought it would be a good idea to steal a couple i-phones. Unfortunately, they were videoed as she allowed him to pass through the checkout line without paying for them.

The fact is, any store, especially the large ones, employ people called Loss Prevention, to stop you from stealing their stuff. There are cameras everywhere and they photograph from the time you get out of your car to the time when you get back in. They are trained to spot you stealing and they are pretty good at it because it's all they do.

So, looking at my entry "Dumb, Dumb, Dumb", it would seem incredibly stupid or dumb that you will beat the system. I liken it to a slot machine. You might be winning at any given time, but over the long haul, you end up losing.

Stealing from a store is like the slot machine. You might get away with it once or twice, but eventually, you do get caught.
